Quick As Thieves 10 km

I'm stepping up to help restore sight!

Currently 43 million people around the world are blind but 9 out of 10 don't have to be!

I need your help - a simple procedure costing as little as $25 can help restore sight and change their life and the lives of their families and communities for ever!

On Saturday, 11 May 2024, I will run in the Quick as Thieves event together with Mike Toner, and I am committed to raise enough funds to help restore sight to at least 40 needlessly blind people!

Please support my run - Your donations will ensure more training of local eye doctors, nurses and health workers, creating a sustainable health care system in the communities that need our help the most.

The Fred Hollows Foundation's work has a very clear purpose: to make sure everyone, whether they’re rich or poor, has access to high quality, affordable eye health as we enjoy right here in this country.

Together, you and I can change lives, thank you for your support!

Subbing in!

Tuesday 7th May
Transitioning from the world of elite cycling to everyday fitness is an experience filled with unexpected lessons and personal growth. When asked if I'm still in the saddle, my go-to reply has typically been, "No, not really," often citing time limitations and a shift in focus toward different fitness pursuits.

However, there's more beneath the surface. Moving beyond what was once second nature can be a silent struggle. This realisation sparked my decision to embrace running, building a new routine with the help of the @quickasthieves 10km event. It was an opportunity for a fresh start, and I jumped in with both feet, bringing together a team to join the cause.
Life, as it does, presented its own set of hurdles. A recent bout with severe hip pain led to a diagnosis of trochanteric bursitis, a condition that has temporarily rerouted my plans from running to recovery. This has been a mental and physical trial, teaching me patience and the importance of listening to one's body.

In this interim, my exercise of choice is walking with my dog, Lulu. I look forward to supporting my peers at Albert Park on May 11th, walking as much as my condition allows, and cheering on every stride.

I'm sharing this update to highlight the often unspoken complexities that accompany a shift away from competitive sports and to rally support for a meaningful cause.

The Fred Hollows Foundation works tirelessly to restore sight for just $25 per person. As we prepare for this weekend’s event, I invite you to consider supporting their life-changing efforts.
