I'm stepping up to help restore sight!
You may remember that we’ve fund raised for Fred Hollows before, and you are almost certainly aware of Amanda’s passion for music. So it will come as no surprise to you to hear that we’ll be supporting Quick as Thieves again this year on Saturday 11 May as Mike Toner and his fabulous community of creatives, creators, entertainers and supporters inspire us to help those in need.
Ken Tucknott (Gaga as he was called by our kids and thence everybody) was a thrifty man and always had an eye open for good investments... an approach he applied to his charitable interests. He saw the Fred Hollows foundation as excellent way to help the most people in the most significant way for the most economy. When he unexpectedly grew ill and subsequently died only weeks later in 2019 he left us too soon with much undone. In order to uphold his memory and honour his life, we committed to continue supporting the things he held dear and one of these was the Fred Hollows Foundation.
Since then, Amanda has committed to and completed the QAT run, enjoying the challenge, the camaraderie and the joy of finishing! This year however unfortunately due to some significant hip issues (that are going to take the rest of the year to rehab), Amanda can’t run, walk or even hop (haven’t told the Physio about dancing...). Instead Brendan (her husband) will run in her place as Bremanda (stay tuned for face mash up) so that we can stay connected to QAT and contribute to the fab work they do. As such, we would love it if you could get behind us and continue to help raise some money for an amazing cause and in memory of Gaga.
